April 22, 2012: Mech Combat For The iPad

I recently, after many months of resisting, bought myself an iPad. I blame, in no particular order, the following:

• Fantasy Flight Games' Elder Sign: Omens, which adapts their Elder Sign dice game to the iPad (and plays wonderfully).
• The Shadowrun Returns project on Kickstarter (which I backed, but not quite at the same level that Steve did).
• Andrew Hackard. (He knows why.)

And once I had the device and started using it I soon found myself looking for other apps to install . . . which soon led me to the Omegatech iPad game currently on Kickstarter. Beautiful artwork, what sounds like a fun approach to play (I like that the designer mentions tabletop gaming as an influence on the game), and an Austin startup company all led me to back the project. It is not yet funded, but I'm hoping that enough others will find the game interesting to step up and support the project so that I can get another game for the iPad.
